With the advent of online background checks, the appearance
of fraud, identity theft, sexual offenses and tenant evictions
should decrease dramatically over the next few years. Who
hasn’t ever met someone that you’ve been dying
to check out? How about the new neighbor who has strange people
coming to his house all day and night? Wouldn’t they
be perfect for online background checks? What about the people
who claim they don’t have any credit because they always
use cash and they want to rent your apartment? And better
yet, what about the doctor who no one knows, is new in town
and claims that he’s worked overseas doing volunteer
work which is why he hasn’t been in the area for so
many years? These scenarios happen every day to good people
just like you and me. But now with the availability of online
background checks, we can fight back!
A few years ago, not many even new what you had to do to
look up someone online just doing a general search. But today,
part of common conversation about someone is, “Did you
Google him?” Doing online background checks like that
is a great start to educating people on how to make sure that
you don’t get swindled and help keep you and your family
safe.
There are public access databases all over the internet,
but unfortunately, many people still do not know how to retrieve
them. Besides Google there is Yahoo and Live Search which
are also good at locating information about people when doing
online background checks. But then you still have to learn
‘how’ to search which is something that you get
better at as you go along. There really is a craft to it and
if you do not search correctly, you will not get the results
you desire.
To begin, use the search engines which were mentioned and
put in the individual’s name. If the person’s
name is unique, this will be much easier when doing online
background checks. If you cannot find anything then put in
their name and also the name of their business or the company
that they work for. Also, many people have blogs and that
is a very good place to begin when doing online background
checks. Add the word ‘blog’ after the person’s
name and that should get you some results as well. Another
way to search is to add the town and state that they live
and/or work in to their name. Lastly, social and networking
sites such as Linkedin.com and Plaxo.com will give you access
to thousands and even millions of names and provide good information
about each person on their profile.
If that didn’t turn up as much information with those
online background checks as you would want, then the next
thing is to check out online companies that will do it for
you. There are many of them on the internet, but if you are
serious about doing accurate online background checks, you
should look for reviews of these companies or get referrals
off of articles or sites. Only then can you be assured that
you are not going to spend money for nothing or for databases
that are outdated. The one company we use and recommend is
Inforegistry.
They guarantee their results. Start your search and good luck!
